American Gangster

Denzil Washington in a role you would never expect of him... A loving/devoted family man, with an un-feeling heart. Truly an eye-opening experience. I was totally surprised by the ending when I found that this movie was based on a true story. To find out how many truly corrupt people in the world the are was shocking!

Aside from a few close up gun shots and some un-necessary nudity, I enjoyed the story line.

The Kingdom

I did not know that "The Kingdom" actually referred to "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia". The start of this movie gives a brief history lesson on our connection with the Saudi people. Very interesting if you are not 100% up to date on your politics.

Very good storyline (INTENSE!), but a little on the graphic side. You are glued to your seat during the last 20 minutes. If you don't like blood - don't watch! I covered my eyes quite a bit. Watching this movie makes you think about all the crazy people in the world. I understand people have different life styles/choices, but you can't hurt others because they don't think like you. The actor that portrayed the police colonel did a great job - he showed family life and how much love there is for families there as well as here. We are all people and we all deserve the chance to LIVE!

The Jane Austen Book Club

Light hearted, fun and truly enjoyable. If you are familiar with her books, it may be easier to follow along in the story lines...

I personally have never "read" any of the stories, but I have seen the movies - Sense & Sensibility; Pride & Prejudice; Emma; and I also saw the recent movie "Becoming Jane". I think having seen these movies, I recognized some of the names and could follow along.

Makes you want to go out and start your own bookclub! It's always good to see people working through thier problems with a good book.

Gameplan!

Fun for the family type of movie. "The Rock" did a wonderful job playing the self-obsessed football player who thinks the world revolves around only him... til he meets his daughter (who he did not know existed!) The girl that plays this role is absolutely adorable. She has him twisted around her little finger and knows what she wants and how to go about getting it.

I enjoyed the movie quite a bit, and would definately recommend it being a good family movie.

Hairspray!

A fan of the older version with Ricky Lake as the young teenager wanting to better her neighborhood and stop segregation... This new version is not only just as well played, but extremely hilarious when you see John Travolta in a fat suit shaking his bottom! I laughed out loud every time he did a song/dance number...

The new "Ricky" played her part well, and had a great voice! She was a bit over-bubbly but the part worked well!

The Nanny Diaries

Definately an exaggeration of the Nanny profession in america.

If you have ever wondered how people can have children and then pay someone else to watch them (even when both parents do not work), this is definately a movie to see!

Annie (aka - Nannie) is the perfect example of a college graduate with no direction in her life, trying to make sense of her life and decide where she wants to go, but I felt bad that her "non-committal" attitude affected the child in the movie. He formed a very close attachment to his Nanny in place of his mom. But in the end... All worked out the way it was supposed to.

BOURNE ULTIMATUM!

Best of the three... I think they could continue this series and treat it like "James Bond". So many story lines still to tell. Even though he seems to have gotten his memory back, there are so many outlets to work from. I truly hope they fill in the gaps.

There is definately something about Nicky Parsons and Bourne - this storyline is still wide open. Then there are all the missions that he went on as Bourne...

Even though the chase scenes were shaky --- that made them all the better. I was on the edge of my seat for at least 75% of the movie and I would strongly recommend it to anyone that is interested in Action films.
